alannah: My drawings allude to an embodiment of tangible moments while evidencing their entailed displacement, the way gravity affects the forms which the body and fabric on a figure can create whilst mid fall, between joy and fear, is a fascinating formal construction. It makes the viewer concentrate on the shape and positioning of the figures the drawings free the mind of clichés of the physical world and challenge the imagination of the audience. The works appear like lonely fragments that have been salvaged from a larger narrative. There is a dream like quality of something not quite formed or remembered not quite right. There is a sense of incompleteness that is poignant and disturbing evoking interrupted thoughts.
